The National Museum of Funeral History is an educational experience like no other and offers something for everyone. Discover America’s largest collection of historical funeral service items. Thousands of visitors each year explore 15 different permanent exhibits housed in over 30,500 square feet of exhibit space. Learn about caskets and coffins, hearses through history, plus the funerals of Presidents, Popes and celebrities while you witness the cultural heritage of the funeral service industry and its time-honored tradition of compassion. The History of Cremation exhibit opens in September 2018. This is a first-of-its-kind exhibit that documents the birth and growth of cremation in North America and promotes the enduring themes of memorialization. The museum is open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday, 12 noon-4 p.m. Tours are offered Monday through Friday 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m.. Tours last one hour and cover most of the artifacts in the museum, as well as little known facts about funeral heritage.
