Houston Center for Photography is one of only a handful of nonprofit spaces around the country committed to showcasing great new photography.

HCP has shown work from some of the greatest photographers of the twentieth century, in addition to the work of many emerging photographers who have gone on to artistic success. HCP's cutting edge work that has helped to define the state of photography, both regionally and nationally.

Founded in 1981, HCP offers year-round exhibitions, workshops, publications, outreach programs, lectures, classes, and home to an on-site library housing more than 2,500 books on photography as well as a state of the art digital darkroom. HCP's mission is to increase understanding and appreciation of photography and its evolving role in contemporary culture.

The facility is always free and open to the public.
