Golfing Outside of Houston

Golfing enthusiasts will find several attractive golf courses not too far from Houston. From an 18-hole course nestled among wetlands to challenging championship courses, visitors will find a course to fit their skill level. Read on to find out where to reserve your next tee time.

Pearland

Pearland has a golf course designed for a variety of skill levels and offers easy access from Houston for a day of golfing.  Perfect your golf swing at any of its three championship golf courses.  Southwyck Golf Club is an 18-hole link-style golf course. Golfcrest Country Club, steeped in a long tradition within Pearland, is an 18-hole championship golf course. And Pearland Golf Club at Country Place offers golfing enthusiasts an 18-hole relaxed golf course. 

Brazosport

The Wilderness Golf Course in Lake Jackson could very well be Texas’s best kept secret. This expertly manicured 18-hole course sits on rolling terrain nestled among wetlands. Exceptional bunkering and putting surfaces will challenge players of every skill level. Surrounded by natural landscapes that native wildlife and birds thrive on, it’s fitting that the Wilderness is a certified Audubon Sanctuary golf course. 

The Woodlands

From disc golf with the family or a serious round of PGA approved golf with the gang, The Woodlands area has plenty of options to fulfill all of your golf needs. Don’t worry, you don’t always have to be a member of a club to play! Area golf courses include: The Oaks, Augusta Pines and Spring Valley Golf and Disc Golf. If golf is not your thing, don’t worry, most golf courses and country clubs have an instructor on site for lessons and other clinics. 

Port Arthur

Olympian Babe Didrickson Zaharias mastered several sports and became known for golfing. The Babe Zaharias Golf Course honors the memory of this Port Arthur-born great. Greens are on Jimmy Johnson Boulevard, named for our home-grown coaching hero.

Sugar Land

Sugar Land’s Greatwood Golf Club features an 18-hole golf course designed by Carlton Gipson, a full-service restaurant, and spacious guest accommodations for tournaments. The course’s lush greens offer avid golfers challenging holes, a steady pace, and excellent course conditions. Greatwood Golf Club is open to the public seven days a week and is conveniently located near the Southwest Freeway. River Bend Country Club is another stunning option. It's been voted the best golf course in Sugar Land, and was designed by Press Maxwell Jr.
